If you ever are looking for a nice place to eat and catch live music in East Nashville, check out 2 of my favorites: Hawkers Asian Street Food and Basement East.

Here's what we have for you today:

  1. The deets on the weather;

  2. East Nashville's Hawkers; and

  3. Basement East.

It will be a cloudy day as the first month of 2023 draws to an end, only two more days of January, make the most of it.

Do you do New Year's resolutions? If so, how are you doing with those? I'm sticking to mine, getting outside even when it's cloudy and cold.

I don't know about you but I am looking forward to Spring, more sun and warmer weather. Only 49 more days. 🌞

Dude, Hawkers Street Food is soooo good!

Whether you're going there on first dates, subsequent dates, with friends and family, business meetings etc. it never disappoints. Last night was no exception.

We started with the vegetable egg rolls, here they are before I was thouroughly enjoying them.

I always get the Roti Canai. I was so excited to eat the Roti that I forgot to take pictures before starting to eat. It's ok, I will definitely be back and I will try to remember to take pictures before devouring it.

My friend James explained to me, his wife is Malaysian, Roti Canai is a popular flat bread popular in Malaysia and other Southeast Asian countries.

Roni means bread in many cultures and canai is said to mean, to roll thinly.

Hawkers has a great menu. Not too much like the Cheesecake Factories menu and not too little.

I love Hawker's Roti Canai, and even though there are a nice variety of options on their menu, I almost always get the Po Po Lo's Curry. It's so freaking good.

It is one of the best I have had. If you know of great curry, let me know.

The whole vibe of Hawkers is phenomenal. From when you see it on the street, to the waiting area, to the design and decor, the friendly staff to tabbing out, it is a great experience.

Ok, I could go on and on about Hawkers but we need to get to the show.

The Basement East is right around the corner from Hawkers so it is the perfect place to eat before a show at The Basement East.

You know you're there when you see this and you hear music escaping out of the side doors.

Last night were tribute bands and it was fun.

So, whatever the occassion check out Hawkers and The Basement East and let me know what you think.
