Nashville for the Kids

Fun things to do with your kids in Nashville.

It’s obvious there’s a ton of great stuff to do in Nashville for adults. But it’s also incredible for the kids. So whether you live here and want to take yours into the city for a day, or you’re coming to visit and wonder what fun you can get into with the whole family—or you’re the cool aunt or uncle who needs to host your nieces and nephews for the weekend, I’ve got four spots you can get them that’ll have them loving my favorite city from a young age.

First is the Frist Art Museum. Okay, maybe you're thinking, “There's no way I'd take kids to a fancy art museum.” But you should! They've even got a special spot for their younger visitors called the Martin ArtQuest Gallery. Bringing your kids here is a great way to introduce them to art and help them explore their creative side. There are interactive displays and art-making activities like painting, drawing, and sculpture. Plus, if you're 18 and younger, tickets (to the entire Frist) are free!

Second up is the Adventure Science Center, fun for kids (and kids at heart). For 75 years this place has been making science cool with interactive exhibits, live demonstrations, and a killer planetarium. (P.S. They offer awesome summer camps where kids can learn about chemistry, physics, biology, engineering, robotics, and more.)

Third is Urban Air (with locations in Nashville and Brentwood). If you’re dealing with kids who like to constantly be on the go, or seem like they’ve always got ants in their pants, let them get out all that energy at this indoor trampoline and adventure park. They can climb, hang, balance, and literally bounce off the walls.

My final callout won’t work every day of winter (though we get random warmer weather moments), but I can’t not mention the Nashville Zoo. They’ve got ring-tailed lemurs, gibbons (who loudly welcome you in), kangaroos (who you can pet if they come close enough!), tigers, and bears (oh my) . . . and more. Plus, you can add on a ride pass to enjoy the Soaring Eagle Zipline, Wilderness Express Train, and Wild Animal Carousel. And heads up, Dino Trek is coming back March 10!

Okay, you can totally see how Music City is honestly for all ages. And if you’ve been to any of these spots, no matter your age, let me know what you thought! I love hearing from you.
