Nashville BBQ Spots Pt 1

These Meats Can’t Be Beat

When you think about Nashville, it’s probably cowboy boots, country music, and BBQ. Wait . . . that last one isn’t one of the top things that comes to mind? Well, after you’ve tried these three spots, it will be!

First is Edley’s. With multiple locations in Nashville, Edley’s refuses to cut corners when it comes to giving you a full food experience. Their website explains, “Our meats are smoked low and slow using Southern white oak. The sides are made from scratch daily with the same amount of attention.”

And you’ll taste the extra effort. You can enjoy the meats on a starter like the BBQ Nachos or Fries (with smoked pork, chicken, or brisket, plus nacho cheese, BBQ sauce, sour cream, pico de gallo, and green onion). Then, if you want brisket, you can get it on a sandwich, on a platter, or in tacos. (Brisket tacos always get my attention on a menu.) They also serve up pulled pork, ribs, and smoked chicken.

If you can’t decide, I suggest sharing the Smoked Sampler with your table. It feeds up to four people and lets you choose any three smoked meats plus four pint-sized, homemade sides. You’ll get all the sauces you need, cornbread, and pickles.

Next up, you’ve got to try Drifter’s on Woodland Street. Start with the Chips and Queso or Fried Hot Pickles (a basket of spicy jalapeno-infused pickles, battered and deep fried to a golden brown and served with ranch).

One of the best parts of Drifter’s? All the sauce options. There’s Sweet and Smokey Texas (tomato and molasses based), Georgia Mustard (spicy mustard), Sweet Fire (sweet with some heat), and New Mexico (lots of heat). You can get your sauce with pulled pork, brisket, or chicken.

And again, if you just can’t choose, try the BBQ Sampler Plate with 4 oz pork, 4 oz brisket, and 4 oz pulled chicken with sides of baked beans and French fries!

Okay, this is getting way too long. I’m going to leave you hanging again before I finish up with the final two BBQ spots. Don’t worry, I’ll get back to you tomorrow! But until then, what do you think are the final two??
