Nashville Has Honky Tonks and Classical Music

We're talking about the Nashville Symphony at the Schermerhorn today.

Class It Up With Classical Music

A night with the Nashville Symphony at the Schermerhorn is a joy for the ears and the eyes.

Seriously, I love all the incredible opportunities to enjoy music that are offered right here in Nashville—and the Schermerhorn brings the perfect touch of class (and fun) to an evening (or afternoon) out.

Yes, fun. Because even if classical music isn’t your thing, the lineup at this lavish venue is diverse enough to please all sorts of entertainment tastes.

The Nashville Symphony has been blessing Music City with fantastic musical experiences since 1946, and it’s been playing at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center since 2006. This. Building. Is. Gorgeous. With what the website describes as “acoustical excellence and distinctive neo-Classical architecture,” the Schermerhorn does not disappoint.

Now back to that musical selection. You can buy tickets to a quintessential symphony experience: they’ve got an evening of Dvořák and Brahms coming up in March and Mozart in June. You can explore the Pops Series concerts: the music of Motown will play in February, and the Beach Boys (You read that right!) are coming in May.

They’ve also got a family series including Goldilocks and the Three Dinosaurs this March and Music and Magic in April. I have a friend who took her crew to one of these, and she went on and on about how much fun the kids (and parents) had!

But that isn’t even it. They also offer a movie series where the symphony plays the music while a film shows on a giant projector. Film lovers will delight in how these concerts highlight the pivotal role music plays in movies! Ratatouille in Concert plays this March (another great chance to bring culture to the kids!), Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 plays in May, and Black Panther is coming in June. What a lineup.

And here’s one more little tip: try out the seats in the Orchestra View. You’re behind the musicians, and it’s like you’re part of the symphony! You can watch all the facial expressions of the conductor, and it’s a cheaper way to get really close. Remember, acoustics are phenomenal in this room. You won’t miss out on sound quality in these seats. At all.

The Nashville Symphony has their calendar of concerts through July 2023 up online. Check it out and go ahead and buy tickets for the show (and venue) of your symphonic dreams!

Hey, if you’ve already been to the Nashville Symphony, what did you think? And what show did you see? Send me your thoughts! I’d love to hear.
