NASHVILLE HOT C*****

Nash's Guide to COFFEE in Nashville

EVERY GOOD DAY IN NASHVILLE STARTS WITH COFFEE AND HERE ARE 3 OF MY FAVORITES!

Nashville may be known as Music City, but you can’t stay up late enjoying the night life without knowing where to get the best caffeine boost the next morning. I’m going to give you the lowdown on three of the best coffee shops in town: Crema, Elixr, and Three Brothers Coffee.

#1 - CREMA

First up is Crema. With three locations in Nashville, this artisanal coffeehouse and roaster is focused on not just brewing you a fantastic cup, but educating you about all things coffee. They pride themselves in working with specialty coffee because, as they say, “we believe in the value of intentional and sustainable labor.”

Though the beans aren’t local, Crema takes the time to roast and grind their blends themselves—which you can buy to take home or have brewed and served for you in the shop.

Crema offers espresso drinks including Americanos, cappuccinos, lattes, and Cubans. They also carry seasonal drinks and coffees by the cup from Costa Rica, Guatemala, and Ethiopia. If you’d rather, they’ve got teas, tea lattes, and hot chocolate as well.

If you need a bite to eat while you’re sipping, there’s locally made quiche and granola, plus avocado toast. And while you’re there, buy a bag or other merch to go—or sign up for their coffee subscription program so you can set it and forget it, knowing a beautiful package from Nashville will come to your doorstep on the regular.

#2 - Elixr

Next up on my list is Elixr, tucked just inside Fifth and Broadway. With seasonal drinks like the strawberry milk latte (which gets rave reviews) and a minty mocha, classic options like cappuccinos and cortados, a simple yet delicious drip coffee, or a hand pour option with a single origin coffee brewed then and there on a Chemex, you’re sure to find your caffeine fix.

Need a bag to go, a sweatshirt with the store’s logo, or a locally-baked pastry too? You’re in luck.  Also, if you park in the Assembly Food Hall garage, you can get your parking validated and get up to one hour of parking free while you enjoy your cup of joe. There’s plenty of space inside to sit alone or with a group, and plenty of natural lighting as well.

Born in Philadelphia, Elixr Coffee has won plenty of awards, for their baristas, their roasting, and their coffees. Though they source their beans from El Salvador, Ethiopia, and Colombia, Elixr roasts them right here in Nashville.

#3 - THREE BROTHERS COFFEE

Finally, let’s talk about Three Brothers Coffee on West End. With an incredible variety of beans sourced from Nicaragua, Tanzania, Honduras, Guatemala, Colombia, and Brazil—you can see why the shop asks you to “choose your own adventure” when you pick your blend.

You can enjoy the rotating signature beverage, the “hardcore” (a drip coffee with a shot of espresso, you know, for after a late night at the honky tonks), a Cafe Au Lait, a matcha latte, and more. To fill your stomach as well, grab one of the locally-baked pastries or a breakfast burrito

There’s free parking behind the building, and you can come in and sit or even order ahead to grab your drink and go. Located near the Parthenon and Vanderbilt University, Three Brothers is the perfect place to get your coffee perk before enjoying a jaunt through Centennial Park.

There you go—three very different locations, but all with the same theme of great service, attention to roasting, and fantastic coffee. Try one—or all—when you’re here in Nashville. And locals, make sure you’re giving these shops some attention. You might just find a new favorite.

Hey, if you’ve already been to one of these spots, what did you think? Send me your thoughts! I’d love to hear.
