Serving Up a Side of Southern Goodness

Puckett's Restaurants Nashville

Visitors and locals alike, you need some in your life, This is one of my go-to spots in Nashville for authentic Southern comfort food. Puckett's roots stretch all the way back to the 1950s, when it was just a little grocery store in the village of Leiper's Fork, Tennessee. And now they’re renowned for providing their guests with great food and sincere southern hospitality. With multiple locations, including one on Church Street in Nashville itself, you’ve got lots of chances to get there.

It’s perfect for breakfast (try Bubba’s Eggs Benedict—a split biscuit topped with bacon or sausage, two fried eggs and white pepper gravy on a bed of home fries—or the Skillet Cinnamon Roll. Trust me.)

And it’s incredible for lunch and dinner too!

One of the most popular menu items is Puckett's Meat & 3 specials. You pick the protein of the day (I’m talking about smoked brisket, smoked chicken, smoked pork chops, and chicken and dumplins!) and three sides (like mac and cheese, collard greens, mashed potatoes, fried okra, or black eyed peas). Feel free to ask for a side of Puckett's famous sweet and tangy BBQ sauce. It takes the meal to the next level of flavor.

Puckett's also offers its famous slow-smoked BBQ. This succulent dish is made with pork shoulder, smoked for hours over a hickory and oak wood-burning pit. The pork is then chopped and served with Puckett's original BBQ sauce, made from a closely-guarded recipe. (Don’t bother asking. They won’t spill the secret.) You can get this on a sandwich, in a quesadilla, or served up in many other ways. And it’s some of the best bbq I’ve ever had.

For those looking for a lighter option, Puckett's offers a variety of salads, such as their classic House Salad with mixed greens, diced tomatoes, red onions, cucumbers, shredded cheese, and croutons. Or my favorite, the Strawberry Spinach (baby spinach leaves, heritage spring mix, strawberries, pecans, blue cheese crumbles, shaved red onion, balsamic vinaigrette.)

These salads can be topped with smoked chicken, salmon, or brisket—plus a drizzle of their homemade blue cheese dressing. With salads this good, you won’t even feel like you’re missing out on the rest of the menu.

Guess what else. There’s live music at Puckett’s. Often. Up-and-comers performing in the intimate, southern atmosphere of this incredible restaurant? Yes, please! Check out the line-up to see who’s coming to each Puckett’s stage.

If you’ve already been to a Puckett’s, shoot me a message on what you ordered and how you liked it! If you haven’t been yet, do it pronto! Then shoot me a message to tell me what you thought! I love hearing from you all!
