Weather, Gardens, and beautiful tunes in Nashville.

Even though it will most likely be a cloudy day today in Nashville, it will still be beautiful. I love to see the beauty in everything.

Here's what we got for you today:

  1. Today's Weather

  2. A new place to visit

  3. Live Music in Nashville

Where should we go visit today?

Baby, It’s Cold Outside, But These Events Are Still Hot

If you hear the name “Cheekwood Estate and Gardens,” you probably think it’s a summer-only spot to visit. Well, you’re about to be pleasantly surprised. Cheekwood has hot happenings, even in winter!

I told you a while back about the Holiday LIGHTS outdoor exhibit and indoor 20-foot-tall poinsettia tree. That seasonal exhibit is on the way out, but new fun is on the way in—starting with piano performances in the historic drawing room in the Cheekwood Mansion. This monthly experience is totally free with your gardens and mansion admission ticket!

While we’re still on the topic of music, which you know is near and dear to my songwriter’s heart, the Cheekwood Winter Concert Series runs January 28–February 23, including a night with the Nashville Jazz Orchestra’s Big Band. Don’t worry, you’ll be listening to the tunes in the toasty and elegant Massey Hall.

Another thing Cheekwood is known for? Flowers. Now, you might be thinking, what the heck will they have to offer me in the dead-middle of winter? Orchids! Cheekwood says, “The orchid show activates a fourth season at Cheekwood and celebrates the beauty of nature at a time when the gardens are otherwise dormant.” That’s right, they brought the blooming beauty inside for the chilly months, so you can still get your fill of this fantastic floral show.

And finally, it isn’t a visit to Cheekwood without a special art exhibit, and what’s next up in the mansion will not disappoint. Spanning the Atlantic: The Arts & Crafts Movement in America shows off over 100 objects from the height of this movement in 20th century USA. I’m talking furniture by Gustav Stickley and Harvey Ellis, pottery by Grueby Faience Company, and glass by Tiffany. Not just photos—the actual pieces of real art themselves.

And that isn’t it! They’ve also got an exhibition from the end of January all the way through mid-May showing off 20th century regionalist art celebrating American agrarianism.

Art museum, concert venue, floral extravaganza—what doesn’t Cheekwood offer? It’s a perfect date night or evening away from it all. Whether you’ve lived here your whole life or will be popping in to the best tourist spot in the country (in my not-so-humble opinion), give Cheekwood a visit!

Hey, if you’ve already been to this spot, what did you think? Send me your thoughts! I’d love to hear.

That is all we've got for today folks, be sure to stay tuned so you can get your share of the sweet tea tomorrow and the rest of the week.
